
The leader of the People’s Defense and Security Team in Myaung Township has confirmed that four civilians were killed during two consecutive days of airstrikes and artillery attacks by the military council forces in Myaung Township, Sagaing Region. On March 19, in the evening, military council troops from the Myaung town base launched artillery attacks on Hletwinoo and Kyunkun villages, resulting in the death of one male and one female civilian. Additionally, helicopter gunship attacks were conducted on Myaung town, causing two more civilian casualties, injuring one woman, and burning down two houses.
On the morning of March 20, military council forces continued their indiscriminate artillery shelling around Myaung town, with helicopter gunships conducting continuous aerial surveillance. Due to these airstrikes and artillery attacks by the military council forces, residents from villages within Myaung Township are facing life-threatening situations and have been forced to flee to safer locations. The People’s Defense and Security Team of Myaung Township has expressed serious concern for the safety of local residents and has warned them to avoid areas that could be targeted by artillery fire.
