
The leader of the People’s Defense and Security Team in Myaing Township, Ko Nwe Oo, has confirmed that four civilians were killed during two consecutive days of airstrikes and artillery attacks by the military council forces in Myaing Township, Sagaing Region. On March 19, in the evening, military council troops from the Myaing town base launched artillery attacks on Hletwinoo and Kyunkun villages, resulting in the death of one male and one female civilian. Additionally, helicopter gunships conducted aerial bombardments on Myaing town, causing the death of two more civilians, injuries to one woman, and the destruction of two houses by fire.
On the morning of March 20, military council forces continued their indiscriminate artillery shelling around Myaing town, while military helicopters maintained continuous aerial presence in the area. Due to these brutal attacks by the military council forces against civilians, local residents are living in fear and have been forced to flee to safer locations to avoid artillery strikes and aerial attacks. The Myaing Township People’s Defense and Security Team has expressed serious concern for the safety of local civilians and has warned residents of villages within the township to seek shelter in secure locations away from the threat of artillery fire and airstrikes.
