
The leader of the People’s Defense and Security Team in Myaing Township, Ko Nwe Oo, has confirmed that four civilians were killed during two consecutive days of airstrikes and artillery attacks by the military council’s forces in Myaing Township, Sagaing Region. On March 19, in the evening, military council troops from the Myaing town base launched artillery attacks on Hletwinoo and Kyunkun villages, resulting in the death of one male and one female civilian. Additionally, helicopter gunships conducted aerial attacks on Myaing town, causing two more civilian casualties, injuring one woman, and burning down two houses.
On the morning of March 20, military council forces continued their indiscriminate artillery shelling around Myaing town while helicopter gunships conducted repeated intimidation flights over the area. Due to these brutal attacks by the military council forces, residents from villages in Myaing Township have been forced to flee to safer locations, fearing for their lives. The Myaing Township People’s Defense and Security Team has been providing necessary assistance for the security of local civilians and has issued warnings to help them avoid the dangers of helicopter gunships and artillery fire.
