The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has reported that four civilians were killed in military airstrikes targeting three villages in Naung Cho Township, Shan State. On March 26, at approximately 6:30 PM, the military council conducted aerial attacks using two fighter jets, striking Um Khar village, Thonezay village, and Shwe Nyaung Pin village five times. The attacks resulted in the immediate deaths of two men and two women from Thonezay village, while four residents from Um Khar village sustained injuries. Additionally, numerous houses in Um Khar village were damaged by bomb fragments.
Prior to this incident, on March 16 at around 5:30 PM, the military council had conducted another airstrike on the Sein Yadana Buddhist monastery in Naung Cho town, resulting in the deaths of nine people, including Buddhist monks, and leaving 17 others injured. The military council has been deliberately targeting civilian areas with airstrikes, even in locations where there is no active fighting. These attacks demonstrate a pattern of intentional targeting of civilian populations and infrastructure.
The TNLA has issued warnings to local residents about the need to maintain constant vigilance against military airstrikes and to follow air raid defense procedures for their safety. The military council’s deliberate targeting of civilian areas constitutes war crimes and violations of international law. Local residents are living in fear and uncertainty, with no security for their lives and property. These continued attacks on civilian targets highlight the military council’s disregard for civilian safety and international humanitarian laws, forcing local populations to live under constant threat of aerial bombardment.
