Local residents reported that four civilians were killed due to military airstrikes and artillery attacks in Kyaukme Township, Northern Shan State, and Pale Township, Sagaing Region. On the morning of September 5, the military fired artillery shells into Metmankonekhaw village along Union Highway in Khaikhunhun village area of Kyaukme Township. The artillery strike killed a married couple, U Wayama and Daw Hla Khin. Due to temporary road closures in the area, the bodies cannot yet be retrieved, and locals confirm that the military continues to fire heavy weapons into the area.
In Pale Township, Sagaing Region, the military conducted two airstrikes on Tanay village around 1:35 PM on September 4, despite there being no active fighting in the area. The airstrikes killed a married couple, with the wife being dismembered by the bomb blast while her husband later died while receiving treatment for his injuries. Another civilian was also wounded and is currently receiving medical treatment, according to a member of the Pale Township People’s Administration Team. The attacks occurred without any ongoing battles in the area.
Tanay village, home to approximately 700 households, has seen its residents forced to flee to safety due to the military’s aerial attacks. Local sources indicate that the military is deliberately targeting civilian areas without any military engagement, resulting in innocent civilian casualties and destruction of homes. The brutal attacks have severely disrupted the daily lives of local residents, who now live in constant fear and anxiety. The military’s indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas have caused widespread displacement and destruction of civilian infrastructure, demonstrating a pattern of targeting non-military objectives and causing civilian casualties.
