According to reports, 32 military council soldiers, including two officers in charge of the power substation, were killed during an attack on the military forces stationed at Thanaung Power Substation in Salin Township, Magway Region. The battle began around 5 AM on March 31 and lasted over four hours, with resistance forces using heavy weapons, small arms, and drones in their assault. During the battle, many military council personnel were wounded, and approximately 80 transformers within the power substation were destroyed.
The attack resulted in a complete power outage to military facilities KaSaPa 20, 21, 25, and LaSaKa 9, effectively halting the military council’s operations and production activities in the area. The operation involved multiple resistance forces, including Burma Army Battalion 707, Pauk Southern Health and Nursing Force, Daung Sit Aung Local PDF, Minbu District Battalion 1, Gangaw District Joint Force, Salin Township and Seikphyu Township PDF forces, Magway Division Drone Strike Force, and Minbu District Strike Force. The coordinated attack specifically targeted this power substation as it was a crucial power supply point for military ammunition production facilities and air defense command centers.
Following the battle, the military council retaliated by conducting over 10 airstrikes using jet fighters on civilian villages near the Thanaung Power Substation, resulting in the destruction of villages and civilian casualties. It was emphasized that this operation was conducted in an area completely unaffected by the recent earthquake damage. During the battle, one revolutionary fighter from the Pauk Southern Health and Nursing Force sacrificed his life for the cause. The resistance forces confirmed that they deliberately chose to conduct this operation in an area unaffected by earthquake damage, while the military council continued their aerial bombardment campaign against civilian populations.
