
A military checkpoint near Sagaing city in Sagaing Region was attacked by People’s Defense Forces, resulting in the death of three military council soldiers and the seizure of one weapon, according to an official from the Mingon Township People’s Liberation Force. The attack occurred around 11:30 AM on July 5, 2023, targeting a military council checkpoint located between Sagaing city and Wachet village. The operation demonstrated the continuing resistance against the military council’s presence in the region.
Although the battle lasted only about thirty minutes, it proved to be an effective operation resulting in the deaths of three military council soldiers and the capture of one MA1 rifle. The attack was carried out through a coordinated effort between the Mingon Township People’s Liberation Force, Black Arrow forces, and the Taungyo Guerrilla local group. Local resistance forces have been regularly targeting military council checkpoints as part of their strategy to control and limit military council movements in the area.
