
Three civilians were killed and several houses were destroyed in airstrikes conducted by military aircraft and helicopter gunships in Budalin Township, Sagaing Region. On August 26, in the afternoon, aircraft from the Northwest Military Command based in Monywa carried out bombing raids across Budalin Township. Around 3 PM, a 20-year-old female goatherd was killed when helicopter gunships opened fire in the area. The woman sustained severe injuries and died while being transported to the hospital.
Later that evening, around 5 PM, two military aircraft and two helicopter gunships attacked a fuel station near Thakutnet village in Budalin Township. Despite there being no active fighting in the area at the time, the military deliberately targeted the location, resulting in the death of two male fuel station employees and leaving another seriously injured. These attacks have caused widespread fear among local residents, with thousands of people from nearby villages forced to flee to safety.
In addition to the airstrikes, the military council is also conducting ground operations in the area. On August 26, a military column reached Peyithtaw village in Budalin Township, forcing local residents to evacuate their homes. The combination of airstrikes and ground operations by military forces has resulted in significant loss of civilian lives and property, with the security situation continuing to deteriorate according to local residents. The military’s actions have created a humanitarian crisis in the region, with thousands of civilians displaced and seeking refuge in safer locations.
