A group of donors from Depayin Township has provided fried noodles as nutritional support to 226 internally displaced persons (IDPs) who are taking shelter in two IDP camps within Depayin Township. These civilians were forced to flee their homes due to the military council’s artillery attacks and village burnings in the area. The displaced people have been seeking refuge in these camps after being forced to abandon their homes and properties due to the ongoing military operations in their villages.
While local donors and volunteers are trying their best to provide food and basic necessities to the IDPs in these camps, there remains a significant shortage of essential supplies. The camps house vulnerable populations including children, elderly persons, and pregnant women who require special attention. There is an urgent need for healthcare services, nutritional supplements, and educational materials for children. The humanitarian situation in these camps continues to be challenging as the displaced populations struggle to meet their basic needs.
Although these internally displaced people wish to return to their homes, they are unable to do so due to ongoing security concerns. The military council’s continued artillery shelling, landmine contamination in villages, and the risk of arrest and persecution prevent their safe return. Despite these challenges, local donors and community members have committed to continuing their support for the IDPs by providing food and other essential supplies as much as they can. The situation highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis faced by civilians who have been forced to flee their homes due to the military council’s actions against its own people.
