
On May 12, the People’s Administration Team of Depayin Township provided detailed information about the incident where 22 students were killed when the military council conducted an airstrike on a school in Ohteinpin village, Depayin Township. The attack began at approximately 9:35 AM when aircraft started circling and attacking the area. At the time of the attack, students were gathered at the school because examinations were being held.
The attack was carried out using fighter jets that deployed double and triple-stage bombs, specifically cluster bomb munitions. After the initial strikes on the school, the munitions scattered across the ground and caused secondary explosions. The attack resulted in the immediate death of 22 students and injured more than 40 others. Among the injured, many sustained severe wounds. The casualties included children as young as 8 years old up to students aged 17 and 18, as well as volunteer teachers aged 23 and 24.
The People’s Administration Team emphasized that these violent attacks are not isolated incidents but have become a recurring tragedy that civilians endure daily. They called for effective international action against such atrocities, questioning whether the international community and countries supporting the military council are aware of the severity of these brutal actions. Revolutionary organizations have pledged to work tirelessly to achieve justice for this incident, expressing their solidarity with the victims and their commitment to pursuing accountability for these attacks.
