Malaysian immigration authorities have announced the arrest of 21 Myanmar women following a raid on an illegal entertainment center in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The entertainment center, which had been specifically catering to Myanmar nationals, had been operating for approximately three months before the authorities intervened. The raid was conducted as part of a special operation by Malaysian authorities after two weeks of surveillance of the establishment.
The operation took place at 12:01 AM on September 6th, when a special task force entered the premises. During the raid, authorities first apprehended a Myanmar woman who was identified as the operator of the establishment, followed by the arrest of twenty other Myanmar women who were working as service staff. The authorities also seized business record books and seven mobile phones as evidence. The investigation revealed that this KTV center was exclusively serving Myanmar customers and only operated on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Among those arrested, eight Myanmar women were found to be overstaying their visas, while thirteen others were discovered to be residing in the country without any valid documentation. The investigation uncovered that customers visiting the establishment were required to purchase alcoholic beverages, and the cost for engaging a service staff member ranged from 150 to 200 Malaysian Ringgit per person. The business model of the KTV center involved providing entertainment services specifically tailored to the Myanmar community in the area.
In connection with this case, Malaysian authorities have also summoned five Myanmar men and one Myanmar woman for further questioning. All those arrested will be processed under immigration laws, facing charges related to illegal stay and visa violations. The Malaysian Immigration Department has stated that legal action will be taken against all individuals involved in accordance with the country’s immigration laws and regulations. The raid represents part of ongoing efforts by Malaysian authorities to crack down on illegal entertainment establishments and enforce immigration regulations throughout the country.
