According to statements from People’s Defense Forces (PDF), 21 members of the military council forces were killed in various confrontations across Myanmar on March 12. These casualties resulted from military operations conducted by local People’s Defense Forces and revolutionary alliance groups in different regions. The clashes occurred across various states and regions, triggered by both offensive and defensive operations of the military council forces.
According to PDF statements, the confrontations were necessitated by the military council troops’ continued violence against local civilians and destruction of public property. The resistance forces engaged in defensive actions to protect civilian populations from military council aggression. However, it should be noted that these casualty reports cannot be independently verified by journalists on the ground due to access restrictions and security concerns. The military council has not officially commented on or confirmed these reported casualties among their forces.
Currently, fighting continues throughout Myanmar between military council forces and People’s Defense Forces, with the military council conducting airstrikes and artillery attacks in various regions. Local civilians have been forced to flee to IDP camps due to the ongoing conflict, and there is a significant need for humanitarian assistance. The situation continues to highlight the ongoing crisis faced by civilians caught in the conflict, with communities requiring urgent support and protection from the violence perpetrated by military council forces.
