The terrorist military forces conducted an aerial bombardment on two private high schools in Thayet Pin village, Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State, resulting in the death of 19 students, while 6 out of 21 injured persons are in critical condition, according to Rakhine activist and writer Wai Hin Aung. The attack occurred around 1 AM on September 12, without any ongoing conflict in the area.
The military forces targeted Pan Pann Khing Private High School and Myint Thit Private High School with two 500-pound bombs. The attack claimed the lives of 16 students from Pan Pann Khing School and 3 students from Myint Thit School. The deceased students were from grades 10 to 12, preparing for their university entrance examinations. This unprovoked attack on educational institutions has raised serious concerns about the targeting of civilian infrastructure.
The airstrike also destroyed six houses near the schools and injured 21 people, including students and local civilians. Among the injured, six individuals are reported to be in critical condition requiring urgent medical attention. Human rights observers note that this attack on educational facilities in a non-conflict zone constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law. The devastating impact on the local community and the loss of young lives has highlighted the ongoing crisis in Myanmar, where civilian targets continue to face military aggression despite the absence of active conflict in the area.
