A 16-year-old girl was killed and four others were injured when the military junta forces fired artillery shells in Mobye town, located on the border of Shan State and Karenni State, according to the Mobye Rescue Team. The incident occurred on March 1st when the military deliberately targeted civilians working in hillside farms. Among the casualties were four women and one man, with the youngest victim, the 16-year-old girl, succumbing to her injuries. The remaining four injured civilians received timely medical treatment from doctors of the Mobye Rescue Team, though detailed information about their conditions has not been released. Local sources point out that such deliberate attacks on civilians constitute violations of international law and could be classified as war crimes.
Simultaneously, in Ye-U Township of Sagaing Region, the military junta conducted aerial bombardments. Late on February 28th, around 11 PM, a military jet fighter arriving from Tataoo (Bridge Head) conducted bombing raids on areas between Taungpyingyi and Aung Thukha villages in western Ye-U Township, as well as near a hilltop monastery west of Taungpyingyi village. These attacks occurred despite the absence of any active fighting in the area. Fortunately, the bombs fell in open fields, resulting in no civilian casualties or damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.
The People’s Defense Comrade information officer from Ye-U, Htoo Khant Zaw (Amay Thar), confirmed these incidents to Yangon Modern News. He issued a warning to both revolutionary forces and civilians to maintain air raid awareness and advised against holding large public gatherings that could become potential targets for military attacks. The ongoing attacks demonstrate the military’s continued use of disproportionate force against civilian populations, a pattern that has been consistently observed since the coup. These incidents add to the growing list of human rights violations committed by the military junta, which continues to target civilian areas with heavy weapons and airstrikes, showing complete disregard for civilian lives and international humanitarian law.
