A spokesperson from the Kalay Urban Guerrilla group has confirmed that 16 military council soldiers who defected to their group with weapons and ammunition have each been awarded 3 million kyats. On July 7, a total of 16 individuals, including 11 new recruits from the military column advancing towards Chin State, one Pyu Saw Htee member from Tamu, and several underage youths who had been forcibly conscripted as porters, defected to the Kalay Urban Guerrilla group, bringing weapons and ammunition with them.
The defecting soldiers were identified as new recruits who had been forcibly conscripted by the military council, coming from various units including Infantry Division 8, 391, and 59, from training batches 6, 7, 8, and 4. The revolutionary forces were able to rescue these individuals after they established contact with the Kalay Urban Guerrilla group. Additionally, on July 1, they successfully rescued one Pyu Saw Htee member and two young people who had been forced into porter service in Tamu town.
A representative from the Kalay Urban Guerrilla group explained that the monetary rewards were delayed due to financial constraints, and the recipients included three additional defectors who joined on July 19. The spokesperson also warned that the military council continues to forcibly recruit porters in the Kalay urban area, urging young people to remain vigilant and encouraging them to utilize their capabilities in support of the revolution rather than remaining passive while desiring freedom.
