
TANINTHARYI DIVISION – An official from Daung Nyinaung Column said that 16 junta soldiers were killed and a revolutionary soldier also fell in the battle that took place near Gonenyinseik Village in Thayetchaung Township.
On January 28, around 70 junta forces from the junta base at Winwa Village that came out to switch troops arrived at Gonenyinseik Village on January 29 after passing through Chaungwapyin Village, Thayetpinai Village and Yaychochaung Village, and we’re waiting for motorboats to pick them up.
Around 3:30 p.m. on January 30, revolutionary forces attacked those junta forces by launching an offensive on the ground while also using drones to drop grenades on them, resulting in a battle.
The battle lasted till 7 p.m. and 16 junta soldiers were killed while 8 more were injured. In addition, a junta ship in the sea to the east of Kanatthiri reportedly fired shells into Gonenyinseik Village till 10 p.m.
“The support fire from the ship came in intervals. It was from the sea to the east of Kanatthiri. There were no casualties as the people fled in advance but there were damages to houses. The junta dogs (junta forces) fell back to Kyauknimaw,” said the official from Daung Nyinaung Column.
It is said that the junta soldiers killed and injured during the battle along with the remaining forces were picked up in a large motorboat and transported to Kyauknimaw Village on February 1.
The attack was carried out by Dawei District Coalition, Kasaldokyar Special Force, One Bead Guerrilla Force and Daung Nyinaung Column. It is said that a revolutionary soldier lost his life and three more were injured.
