Revolutionary forces successfully attacked the Wine Village Police Station in Htone Bo Township, Bago Region, resulting in 15 military casualties and the complete destruction of the police station by artillery fire, according to Thitsar, the military affairs officer of Thayarwaddy District. The attack, which began at approximately 2:30 PM on March 12, lasted for about two hours, with revolutionary forces successfully withdrawing without casualties.
The operation was carried out through a joint effort of Thayarwaddy District PDF Combat Units (1), (2) Shwetanmyay, and (3) Moenyoe. The revolutionary forces executed a surprise attack on the police station, catching the military personnel unprepared and inflicting significant casualties. However, during the engagement, wounded military personnel continued to return fire, and the arrival of substantial military reinforcements prevented the revolutionary forces from capturing weapons and ammunition, though they managed to withdraw successfully.
Following the battle, military forces retrieved their casualties using vehicles. The police station was destroyed by artillery fire, and local sources report continued military reinforcement in the area. This battle represents a significant victory for revolutionary forces in the Bago Region, effectively undermining the military council’s control in the area. The successful operation demonstrated the growing capabilities of resistance forces in conducting coordinated attacks against military installations, despite the challenges posed by rapid military reinforcement responses.
