A total of 15 military council soldiers were killed during battles that took place on March 9th and 10th in Oaktwin Township, Bago Region, according to a spokesperson from the Oaktwin Township People’s Defense Force (PDF). The first engagement occurred around 4:30 AM on March 9th when combined forces of the People’s Defense Force, Strategic Operation Area 2, Strategic Command 23’s Battalion 3502, and Oaktwin Township PDF launched an attack on the military council outpost located near Kyauktaing village along the old Yangon-Mandalay road between Kywepe and Nyaungchaythauk towns in Oaktwin Township.
During this battle, five military council soldiers were killed and six small arms along with ammunition were captured. In the course of the fighting, PDF member Wan Chaing from Oaktwin Township heroically sacrificed his life while fighting for the complete elimination of the military dictatorship and the establishment of a federal democratic system. Subsequently, on March 9th and 10th, combined resistance forces including Oaktwin Township PDF, Battalion 3502, local drone forces, and People’s Defense Teams from Taungoo District jointly attacked military council troops who had entered Yayokeson village near Myosoe Bridge in Kywepe town, Oaktwin Township.
In this engagement, ten more military council troops, including one officer, were killed. Although the military forces retreated in the afternoon, they burned down four civilian homes in Yayokeson village during their withdrawal. Additionally, the Oaktwin Township PDF participated in a coordinated operation to capture the military council outpost at Thapyaynyo in Thanyarpin Township, Bago Region, working alongside PDF Special Commando Battalion P29914, KNLA Brigade 2 and 3. The Oaktwin PDF’s role involved intercepting and engaging military reinforcement columns that were attempting to support the outpost. Throughout these operations, the resistance forces maintained their strategic objectives while defending civilian populations from military council aggression.
