The commander of Drone Battalion 1844 in Kyaukse District has confirmed that 15 people, including a colonel, were killed in a drone strike on No. 3 Police Training School in Sagaing city, Sagaing Region. The attack occurred around 3:30 PM on August 4th when People’s Defense Force (PDF) members launched a coordinated drone strike, dropping four bombs simultaneously on personnel assembled for a speech inside the training school compound. The bombs exploded among the gathered crowd, killing 15 people including a colonel (two-star officer) instantly and leaving many others seriously wounded.
According to the battalion commander, resistance forces conducted surveillance for about two days before the attack, carefully timing the strike to coincide with training assembly and speech delivery. Upon receiving intelligence from scouts, they were able to precisely target the gathering with drones, achieving direct hits with all bombs. The colonel who was delivering the speech was killed on the spot, while his son was severely injured and had to be rushed to emergency medical care. The commander explained that the operation required careful reconnaissance to determine the exact timing when personnel would be assembled for training activities and speeches.
Following the attack, military council troops responded with indiscriminate heavy weapons fire and attempted to intimidate with three passes by fighter jets over the area. The training school is reportedly fortified with a jamming system that had previously caused several PDF drones to crash, though this operation managed to overcome those defenses successfully. The battalion commander detailed that military forces launched a counter-attack with heavy weapons within five minutes of the strike and continued fighter jet intimidation flights for three to four passes over the area. The training facility’s strong jamming capabilities had posed challenges for previous drone operations, making this successful strike particularly significant.
The operation was carried out through coordination between Drone Battalion 1844 of Kyaukse District, the Aung Thapyay Brothers (Kyaukse-PDF), and the Mike-Two People’s Defense Force. All resistance forces involved in the attack were able to withdraw safely without casualties. This strike represents a successful operation by people’s defense forces against a military council training facility, demonstrating the growing capabilities of resistance drone warfare units. The precision of the attack and the ability to overcome the facility’s defensive measures marked it as a significant achievement in the ongoing resistance against the military council’s forces.
