The CDF-KKG has reported that during the offensive operations against Pyu camps in southern Kalay, Sagaing Region, the military council conducted over 1,000 airstrikes, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 civilians and injuries to more than 40 others. The operation began with force organization and training in 2024, followed by the launch of the CDF-KKG Major Operation in February 2025. Over a two-month period, they successfully captured several military council bases including Kampani Camp, Mhan Taw, Aung Tha Ya (East and West), and Pyu Saw Htee-controlled Kyan Tha village. The entire CDF-KKG Major Operation was under the military command of the Chin National Army (CNA).
On February 12, they captured the Kampani Camp, which was considered one of the strongest and most fortified military council bases between Kalay and Gangaw. By February 15, they had successfully taken control of additional military council outposts in Mhan Taw village and western Aung Tha Ya village in southern Kalay. The offensive against Kampani Camp involved allied forces including CNA, CDF-Hakha, CDF Thangtlang, CDF CDM-Siyin, ABSDF, Yaw Region Liberation Alliance, CDF-Senthang, and the Dragon Brotherhood, among others. During the military council’s retaliatory airstrikes, more than 60 civilian structures including hospitals, schools, religious buildings, and homes were damaged or destroyed. Approximately 20,000 residents from over 12 villages were forced to flee, with many still displaced.
On April 11, resistance forces launched an attack on the Pyu Saw Htee-controlled Kyan Tha village, successfully capturing it before noon. The CDF-KKG has announced that they will continue their offensive operations against remaining military council camps and Pyu Saw Htee-controlled villages in the near future. Throughout the operation, the military council’s extensive use of airpower against both military and civilian targets has highlighted their continued strategy of using disproportionate force against resistance movements and civilian populations. The successful coordination between various resistance groups demonstrates the growing effectiveness of anti-junta forces in conducting large-scale military operations.
