Border Guard Force (BGF) will transfer 1,439 Chinese citizens currently trapped in scam centers in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, to Thailand, according to Thai-Myanmar border sources. The Chinese government will then repatriate its citizens through special flights in what marks the second round of evacuations. After the transfer to Thailand, China plans to bring back its citizens through 19 separate flights over the course of several days.
The transfer operation will take place from March 6 to March 9, with the Chinese citizens being transported in groups by vehicles from the Myawaddy-Mae Sot Friendship Bridge 2 to Mae Sot Airport. The evacuation schedule includes six flights per day on March 6, 7, and 8, followed by a final flight on March 9, totaling 19 flights to repatriate all 1,439 Chinese nationals.
This repatriation effort represents the second phase of China’s operation to rescue its citizens, following an earlier evacuation of Chinese nationals from the region. The operation is part of a broader effort to rescue Chinese citizens trapped in scam centers in the Myawaddy area, with both countries’ authorities working together to control illegal activities in the border region. The systematic evacuation demonstrates the coordinated response to address the issue of human trafficking and illegal operations along the Thai-Myanmar border.
