
A spokesperson from the Black Eagle Defence Force – MMU has confirmed that 13 military personnel were killed during a clash in Myaung Township, Sagaing Region, on August 30 at around 6 AM. The incident occurred when revolutionary forces ambushed two military vehicles carrying approximately 25 soldiers that had departed from the Myaung Township junction. The resistance forces conducted the attack at a strategic location along the route, resulting in significant casualties for the military forces.
During the engagement, one military vehicle was completely destroyed. Five soldiers were killed instantly in the attack, while eight others later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The remaining military personnel suffered severe injuries. The revolutionary forces successfully captured military equipment including two MA-11 rifles, one ammunition box, and one Inaga bomb. The confrontation demonstrated the effectiveness of the resistance forces’ tactical operations against military targets.
According to the Black Eagle Defence Force – MMU representative, the battle intensified when three surviving military personnel returned fire while resistance forces were collecting weapons, leading to an exchange of gunfire. The resistance forces were compelled to withdraw when military reinforcements arrived from the Myinmu area. The spokesperson emphasized that throughout the revolution period, their organization has never engaged in roadside fundraising activities. They have maintained their operations with discretion for over four years, though they now face increasing needs for ammunition and financial resources as combat operations expand.
The operation was a coordinated effort involving multiple resistance groups, including the Myinmu Township PDF as the lead force, along with the Black Eagle Defence Force (MMU), Sagaing District Battalion (1) Company (2), Allakappa Territory Force, Tawtchaungoo Territory Force, and Myinmu Township PLF. During the engagement, one resistance fighter sustained injuries. The spokesperson also noted that as the frequency of battles increases, they face growing challenges in maintaining adequate supplies of ammunition and financial resources to support their operations. This incident represents one of the significant confrontations between resistance forces and military troops in the Sagaing Region, demonstrating the ongoing intensity of the conflict in the area.
