The military council’s air force conducted an airstrike on a medical clinic in Hnamkar village, Gangaw Township, Magway Region, killing 11 civilians including Dr. Mya Soe Aung, his pregnant wife Daw Khine Hnin Wai, and their young son. According to Ko Ba Kaung from Yaw Alinn Tan, the attack occurred at 8:38 AM on March 22 when a fighter jet from the Meiktila Air Base targeted the clinic while the doctor was treating patients.
The airstrike resulted in the deaths of the doctor’s three family members and eight civilians who were seeking medical treatment at the clinic. Additionally, six other people were injured in the attack. Among the deceased were five children. The bombing caused the clinic building to catch fire and be destroyed, while several nearby houses were also damaged and collapsed from the impact.
The military council conducted this airstrike on Hnamkar village despite there being no active fighting in the area, indicating a deliberate targeting of civilians. Throughout March 2025, military airstrikes in the Yaw region have killed a total of 20 innocent civilians – four in Kan village, one at Myit Thar Dam, four in Thilin Township, and now 11 in this latest attack on Hnamkar village. Nearly 40 people have been injured in these attacks. The military council continues to target civilian infrastructure and populations with airstrikes, demonstrating a pattern of violence against its own people.
