A clash between the military council forces and PNO troops against revolutionary forces in Yaypu and Phayartaung villages of Nyaung Shwe Township, Shan State, resulted in the death of 10 military council soldiers, according to an official from the Southern Shan Special Force P.3-9702. The conflict began on May 31 when military council troops, returning from patrol duties, initiated an attack on a vehicle carrying revolutionary forces using six heavy weapons, leading to an exchange of fire between both sides.
On June 1, the military council reinforced their troops and launched another offensive the following day, June 2, at 8 AM. This led to intense fighting with revolutionary forces. During the prolonged engagement, revolutionary forces were compelled to withdraw from their positions in two villages due to ammunition shortages. However, when the military council and PNO forces began burning civilian homes in the villages, revolutionary forces launched a counter-attack at 4 PM.
During this engagement, ten military council soldiers were killed, and others were wounded, while revolutionary forces successfully withdrew without casualties. The military council and PNO forces, numbering approximately 1,000 troops, had advanced from the Sagaring area. They burned more than ten houses in the villages and falsely accused revolutionary forces of the arson. While there have been no reported civilian arrests yet, the military council’s forces continue their destructive operations in the area. The revolutionary forces maintain their commitment to protecting civilians while opposing the military council’s aggressive actions against local communities.
