A series of coordinated attacks in Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, resulted in the death of 10 military council troops. The incidents occurred on April 20 when resistance forces targeted military convoys and security forces that had departed from the Chaung-U police station. The Royal Tiger Force and allied resistance groups carried out the attacks using both landmines and drones, demonstrating their continued resistance against the military council’s forces in the region.
The first attack took place in the morning when resistance forces targeted a military column of approximately 100 personnel that had departed from the Chaung-U police station. Using 10 Padamya mines near Han Thit gas station east of Chaung-U, near Ngayan village, the attack killed three soldiers and severely wounded four others. In a subsequent operation, resistance forces targeted a convoy of eight armored vehicles from the Northwest Military Command headquarters in Monywa. The attack, which specifically targeted the first two vehicles in the convoy on the Monywa-Mandalay road, resulted in two more casualties and left six soldiers wounded.
Following these initial attacks, when more than 80 security personnel from the Chaung-U police station mobilized in response, resistance forces launched four separate drone strikes, deploying 24 bombs that killed at least five more soldiers. The coordinated operations involved multiple resistance groups, including the Royal Tiger Force, Monywa District Battalion 12’s Lightning Unit 3, the Nway Oo Brother Column, and the Monywa District PDF Drone Force. The resistance forces reported successfully withdrawing from the area without suffering any casualties.
A spokesperson from the Royal Tiger Force emphasized the importance of civilian safety, urging local residents to maintain a safe distance from military council convoys. The representative also highlighted the ongoing financial challenges faced by resistance forces in sustaining their operations, appealing to the public for continued support in their fight against the military council. This series of attacks represents a significant operation in the ongoing resistance movement, demonstrating the coordinated capabilities of various revolutionary forces operating in the Sagaing Region.
