The Falcons Guerilla Force has confirmed that an interception attack on military council troops entering Taungsu village in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region, resulted in 10 military council soldiers being killed and 7 being captured alive. The battle occurred on May 19, with revolutionary forces successfully conducting the operation without suffering any casualties.
The attacking revolutionary forces consisted of a joint operation between the FALCONS Force, Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Battalion 8 and Battalion 9, and the People’s Defense Force (PDF). The revolutionary forces also reported seizing weapons and ammunition from the military council soldiers during the battle. After the engagement, the military council troops retreated, and the revolutionary forces maintained control of Taungsu village.
Kyaukkyi Township has been a frequent site of clashes between military council forces and revolutionary groups, with resistance forces closely monitoring military council movements in the area. This successful operation by the revolutionary forces has provided a morale boost to local civilians, and the control of Taungsu village by revolutionary forces will help restrict military council operations in the region. The ability to maintain control of the village demonstrates the growing capabilities of the revolutionary forces in challenging the military council’s presence in the area.
