MYANMAR – The conscripted soldiers from the fifth batch of military training were attacked on their way to Shan State from No. 6 Basic Military Training School in Pathein and eight of them were killed, according to an official from Pathein Special Information Team.
It is said that the fifth batch of conscripted soldiers, trained by junta Captain Kyaw Ngwe and Captain Zaw Zaw at No. 6 Basic Military Training School in Pathein were attacked on their way to Shan State on December 7 and eight of them died.
The eight conscripted soldiers killed in the attack reportedly include three from Kangyihtaunt Township, one from Myaungmya Township, Two from Wahkhaema Township and two from Yaykyi Township.
The fifth batch of conscripted soldiers were separately sent to light infantry 104 (Kyaikmaraw), light infantry 208 (Mawlamyaing), light infantry 555 (Karathuri), Rakhine State and Shan State. They were enrolled in the battalion and some were sent to the frontline while others were assigned to guard duty at the mother battalion.
“Among the eight who were killed were those forcibly conscripted and those who took money to join the army in place of those who were conscripted. They were reportedly attacked on a road in Shan State. The attack was on December 7,” said the official from Pathein Special Information Team.
