SAGAING DIVISION – The encounters occurred between the Revolutionary Forces and the terrorist junta column of Sagaing-based 33rd Light Infantry Division, near Mya Thein Tan pagoda in Mingun Town, until on the morning of January 29, according to some locals.
On January 27, the terrorist junta column stationed at Min Gun Village, attempted to conduct offensives on the northern part through Shar Saung Village, with around 70 forces. Shar Saung Village is located near Mya Thein Tan pagoda.
The Revolutionary Forces carried out mine attacks on the terrorist junta that carried out the offensive, at the north part of Mya Thein Tan pagoda. Afterwards, the skirmishes occurred, said an official of Bo Kyar Gyi (Captain Tiger) Force of Wetlet Township.
“At present, our Revolutionary Forces were defending them. The junta army is at Mya Thein Tan pagoda. There are many junta forces preparing for offensives into the northern part, said Captain Tiger.
On the morning of January 29, the junta army reportedly fired with light weapons from Mya Thein Tan pagoda to Kin Village on the northern part.
“If the junta army continues to attack, there will be more encounters. I cannot give details yet,” he continued.
The military has frequently carried out offensive attacks into Mingun Town, and the junta forces burned down around 30 residential houses near the building of Mingun Sayadaw, on 24 July 2024.
