CHINA – China’s Xinhua reported that the Chinese government prosecuted 16 Myanmar citizens including the family members of Kokang Pyithusit member Ming Guochang for murder, telecom scam, illegal detention, gambling, prostitution and drug charges.
It is said that 39 people were prosecuted in eastern Zhejiang Province for crimes including telecom scam, 16 of whom are Myanmar citizens and that they are charged for crimes that include murder, scam, illegal detention, systematic gambling, prostitution and drug crimes. The family members of Kokang Pyithusit member Ming Guochang were among those charged but it is said that Ming Guochang himself committed suicide when China issued a warrant for him.

The 39 people prosecuted are said to be members of the Ming Family and its related organisations and are either Chinese citizens or Myanmar-born Chinese.
Although the crimes took place in Kokang that is outside of China’s borders, Chinese prosecutors claimed that China has the right to hear those crimes as they affected the personal rights of Chinese citizens.

A total of ten criminals wanted in China, including Bai Suocheng, his son Bai Yangcang, chairman of border guard battalion 1006 Wei Huairen, Fully Light Enterprises Owner Liu Zhengxiang, Lui Zhengmao, Xu Laofa, and four other criminals, were sent to China on a flight that departed from Nay Pyi Taw Airport.
