CHIN STATE- In Siyin area of Tedim Township, about 3 acres of poppy plantations were destroyed, Chief of Staff Daozpu of CDF CDM SIYIN told the News Agency.
According to CDF CDM SIYIN’s 2024 regular meeting decision on December 19, about 3 acres of poppy fields in Chinland Siyin region were destroyed by CDF CDM SIYIN soldiers, and the remaining poppy fields will continue to be destroyed.
“There were many poppy fields in Chin State We have currently destroyed the fields in the Siyin area near Kalay Township. Our comrades destroyed the fields in person. Some fields remain, which will soon be destroyed. The locals who are having trouble with their living planted them since it’s easy money. They want easy money. These fields are not related to military forces. Locals said to have planted poppy to make the ends meet. If it’s about the poppy fields, we will continue to destroy them,” CDF CDM SIYIN Commander-in-Chief Daozpu said.
“The owners of these poppy fields are said to be locals, who have been planting them since it is too difficult to make a living under the political situation. However, they were manipulated by some businessmen who took advantage of the political instability for their own good,” said the commander-in-chief.
For the future of the country and the ethnic community and for the bright future, peace, and tranquillity, poppy plantations are unacceptable and CDF CDM SIYIN completely bans the expansion of poppy fields. There will be no collection of Opium tax and the Opium Cultivation Eradication Project will continue in the CDF CDM Siyin-Control Areas, as planned and agreed.
