TANINTHARYI DIVISION – The Revolutionary Forces attacked Palaw-based Infantry Battalion (IB) – 17 and the military base stationed near Par Da Set Taw Yar, killing at least three junta soldiers, and the junta army bombed the area all day long, according to an official of Myeik District Battalion 1.
On January 9, at around 8:00 a.m., People’s Defence Force, Myeik District Battalion 1 and its allied forces combated Palaw-based Infantry Battalion – 17, the skirmish broke out for around two hours, and three terrorist junta soldiers were killed.
The junta army bombarded 16 bombs with attacked helicopter on the battle ground during the fight, at around 9:30 a.m., and at around 10:00 a.m., but the Revolutionary Forces were able to retreat without any casualties.
The junta army launched 23 airstrike attacks by using 70 bombs until 6:00 p.m.
“Infantry Battalion – 17 is located in the border area between Palaw and Myeik townships, and three junta soldiers were killed in that battle. Set Taw Yar is located around 6-mile away from Infantry Battalion – 17. Since the battle happened at the same time, the bombs were dropped continuously. Currently, there is no fighting in IB – 17.
Fighting is still intense near Set Taw Yar Village. There are casualties on both sides there. The junta army suffered serious set-back and so supported airstrike attacks all day long,” said the official of Myeik District Battalion 1.
The Myeik District Battalion 1 and allied forces had been intensifying their military operations, and since any place can become a battlefield, they urged the public to remain alert and cooperate.
