USA- It was reported that Burmese artists and expatriates protested in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC last Saturday(January 4).
Burmese people in the USA and artists protested against China’s wrong policy and interference in Myanmar’s affairs and called to engage with the National Unity Government (NUG), during the protest in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C.
The protest was held in the United States (local time) from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on January 3, and this aimed to coincide with Myanmar’s Independence Day on January 4.
At the demonstration in Washington DC, Burmese people from Texas, Indiana, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland came to protest. Burmese singers Yan Yan Chan, Linnit, Lin Htet, Kyaw Thiha, and Htet Aung Shine also participated in the protest.
Protesters in front of the Chinese embassy amid snow, chanting slogans in Burmese, Chinese, and English, they also held a protest movement by beating iron boxes and cans.
One of the protestors stated that as long as the Chinese government joins hands with fugitives like the coup leader Min Aung Hlaing, we will drive them away beating iron cans.
Five demands were reportedly made; (1) to stop providing diplomatic protection to the Burmese military council in the UN Security Council (2) to stop supporting the election to be held by the military council (3) To stop selling weapons to Myanmar army (4) to revoke the agreement to place mercenary troops in Myanmar and (5)to stop pressuring the ethnic armed groups to cease fire, through this protest.
