MAGWAY DIVISION – The terrorist junta army carried out arson raids in Oh Pyin Mae Village near Shwe Set Taw Pagoda in Minbu Township, without a fight, burning to the ground 36 residential houses, according to locals.
On January 11, around 150 terrorist junta forces invaded Oh Pyin Mae Village near Shwe Set Taw Pagoda in Minbu Township, under cover of artillery firing, without any fight, and burned down 36 residential houses.
The residents of the entire village had been forced to flee as the terrorist junta forces invaded and stationed at Oh Pyin Mae Village, on December 22. However, Mr. Tin Aye, who was unhealthy, unable to escape and remained at home, died of lack of food and water. In addition, the military forces looted the belongings of civilians from their houses in the village, and confiscated the hearse from the monastery with a crane.
“Around 150 terrorist junta forces carried out offensives in Oh Pyin Mae Village near Shwe Set Taw Pagoda, also known as Se Taw, without a fight. They also fired artillery shells and stormed the village. They raided and burned down the new houses on the southern part of the village. 36 houses were burned to ashes,” said a local resident.
The houses that were burned down were newly built houses after a fire broke out in the village in 2020, and it was the first time the military junta had burned down civilians’ houses in Minbu Township, the local residents continued.
