MYANMAR – The Southern Military Region reported that 28 junta soldiers were killed and a frontline camp of junta council’s Aung Zeya Column was captured during the clashes that occurred in a week in the Southern Military Region of People’s Defence Force (PDF).
During the 7-day period from January 11 to 17, fighting broke out between the People’s Defence Force (PDF), Karen National Liberation Army of Karen National Union (KNU-KNLA), the allied Revolutionary Forces and the terrorist junta in the Southern Military Region, killing 28 junta soldiers and injuring more than 45.
The allied Revolutionary Forces also captured a temporary base of the junta council’s Aung Zeya Column on the Kawkareik – Asia Road, from which the junta forces carried out offensive attacks on Myawaddy, during the fighting.
It was reported that 11 small arms, one heavy weapon, various mines and ammunition, and some other military equipment used by the terrorist junta forces were seized during the clashes.
The Southern Military Region has stated that the terrorist junta army, which is struggling on the ground, has been increasingly using air strikes, not sparing civilian targets.
