BAGO DIVISION – The Township People’s Defence Organisation (PDO) representative Mr. Ko Ko Aung reported that a civilian was injured in Letpandan Township after stepping on a landmine planted by the terrorist junta forces who have been abducting and forcibly conscripting people from the villages in the township.
47-year-old Mr. Kyaw Swar was heavily injured after stepping on the landmine planted by terrorist junta forces in Htanponchaung Village around 1 a.m. on December 6.
The terrorist junta forces have been abducting and forcibly conscripting civilians at the villages in Letpandan Township and as a result, the civilians have to flee in the night, unable to sleep at their homes. Moreover, the junta forces are known to plant landmines on the main roads of the villages when raiding the villages to abduct the civilians.
“The junta dogs (junta forces) would raid the villages at night to abduct people for conscription. As a result, the people have to flee, unable to sleep in the village. But as they still have to earn their living, they would return to their home from time to time. The junta dogs would plant landmines in the village after raiding and abducting people. The person who was injured also stepped on the mine planted by junta forces at the entrance of the village when returning home. His right leg was cut off at the ankle. The injury is serious,” said Mr. Ko Ko Aung from the Township PDO.
In addition, the terrorist junta forces were reported to have raided the villages in Pyay Township and abducted 16 civilians for conscription on November 30.
Three farmhands from Thaekyelkyi Village, a young man from Titut Village, two young men from Wathteekan Village, five young men shopping in Sisonekonegyi Village, two young men from Sisonekonegyi Hill, two from Ashay Poppa of Sisonekonegyi and one from Sisonekonegyi Kwatthit were abducted and conscripted by terrorist junta forces.
