SAGAING DIVISION- The terrorist junta army on military vehicles reportedly raided Nagarpaw Village and Poppa Village in Kantbalu Township, Zeekone town, and forcibly arrested nearly 100 youths, according to an official from the Kyun Hla-Kantbalu activists group.
On January 29, at around 9:35 a.m., three police cars, including the township police chief, and six military vehicles from the 6006th Artillery Battalion in Kantbalu arrived at Zeekone town and forcibly abducted youths in the town.
In addition, at around 10:00 a.m., military council troops from Zeekone Sugar Mill in Kantbalu Township raided Nagarpaw Village and Popp Village in 4 military vehicles and forcibly abducted some youths.
“I haven’t heard of (the relatives of) the detained youths being asked money for setting free. Only young and middle-aged people are reportedly abducted( by junta troops),” said an official from the Kyun Hla-Kantbalu activists group.
“It is not yet known where those arrestees will be taken. The family and relatives of the detained youths were devastated by their news and didn’t know what to do,” some locals said.
In Kantbalu Township, the arbitrary arrest and abductions of youths to serve in the military were led by the Pyu Saw Htee leader Wathawa and the junta-appointed administrators in urban areas and started on January 15 in some villages and urban areas. An official from the Kyung Hla -Kantbalu activists group continued to say that even the chief strategist of Kantbalu town is unaware of the process of abductions and arrests.
