SHAN STATE – According to local reports, civilians were killed and injured by junta’s aircraft conducted another airstrike on Kyaukme in Northern Shan State.
On January 27, at 2:18 p.m., the Military junta launched another attack using a fighter jet, dropping one bomb on the night market area and district office in Kyaukme Township.
On January 25 afternoon, one CDM nurse, one CDM office staff, and one civilian were killed by military junta airstrike and over 20 people, including hospital staff, CDM employees, patients, and civilians, were injured. The entire Kyaukme Public Hospital was also damaged in the attack.
The NUG has called on the international community not to ignore the military’s airstrikes, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, urging swift and effective intervention using all possible means.
The TNLA, which controls Kyaukme Township, strongly condemned the military junta’s airstrike on the public hospital as a war crime.
Similarly, on the evening of January 22, the military junta conducted an airstrike on a hospital in Hpa-an Township, damaging the facility. Healthcare workers and patients managed to evacuate in time and escaped harm.
The NUG government stated that targeting of hospitals, clinics, and the health sector by the terrorist military is an obvious violation of international laws, including the Geneva Convention. The NUG government will take legal action against the terrorist council and its accomplices to ensure justice for the deceased healthcare workers and civilians. The NUG government also urged the terrorist council’s collaborators and supporters to immediately cease their activities.
