KACHIN STATE – The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) reportedly fired Ground-to-Ground Rockets on Myitkyina airbase, according to KIA news source.
On January 23, at around 4:00 p.m., KIA fired Ground-to-Ground Rockets inside the junta’s airbase in Myitkyina Town, the rockets landed and exploded at the compound of the airbase, but did not cause any damage.
“Yes, we fired at Myitkyina airbase with Ground-to-Ground Rockets,” said the KIA news source.
The Myitkyina airbase is also a place where the KIA-led Revolutionary Forces have frequently fired Ground-to-Ground Rockets.
In addition, starting 6:00 a.m., on January 24, the KIA-led Revolutionary Forces carried out a fierce offensive against the remaining major military bases in Bhamo, and the fighting was very fierce.
“The fighting in Bhamo this morning is fierce. The KIA and allied forces are carrying out an offensive,” a KIA source said.
Some revolutionary sources based in Bhamo said that the junta forces were conducting airstrikes, heavy artillery fire, and using drones in the fighting, and that the fighting was most intense in 21st Military Operations Command (MOC-21).
It is reported that the junta’s main bases, 21st Military Operations Command (MOC-21) and Infantry Battalion 47, 236, 237 and Artillery Battalion – 366, were in the offensive area to completely capture the entire Bhamo Township.
Starting on 4 December 2024, the KIA-led Revolutionary Forces launched the offensive attacks to completely capture and occupy Bhamo and Mansi towns. The KIA and allied forces had captured the entire Mansi Township, on January 8, and the offensives in Bhamo Town had been ongoing.
