MYANMAR – The British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) published a release on January 22, warning against travel to seven townships in Ayeyarwaddy Division, which are adjacent to Rakhine State.
The seven townships mentioned by FCDO are Kyangin, Myanaung, Ingapu, Laymyet Nhar, Yegyi, Thabaung and Pathein Townships and it is further warned that the travel insurance will be void if the advice or warning was ignored.
The FCDO of Britain made such a statement as at present the junta council army and the Arakan Army are fighting fiercely in Magyizin, Bomi and Rotaung areas between Rakhine and Ayeyarwaddy.
Beaches such as Chaung Tha, Ngwe Hsaung and Shwe Thaungyan from Ayeyarwaddy are visited by local and foreign tourists, and the battles are getting closer to those beaches.
In addition, FCDO also warned against travel to Chin State, Kachin State, Karenni State, Karen State, Mon State, Rakhine State, and Sagaing and Magway Divisions.
It was also advised to avoid travelling to the islands and southern townships of Tanintharyi Division, Northern Shan State, Northern Mandalay Division and Pyin Oo Lwin Township, the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway and the eastern part of Bago Division unnecessarily.
