MYANMAR – The Arakan Army (AA) announced that the battles have arrived at the edge of Ayeyarwaddy Division, Bago Division and Magway Division that are bordering Rakhine State.
The junta council has lost all its bases including the Western Command in Ann, Tongup and Gwa, and fierce battles are taking place between the junta forces and the Arakan Army at the Yoma ranges connected to the Rakhine Yoma, the Rakhine-Bago border, Rakhine-Magway border, Rakhine-Ayeyarwaddy border and the border of Rakhine Yoma and Ayeyarwaddy Division.
It is also reported that there were battles at several places on the Rakhine-Ayeyarwaddy border, Point 369 Hill and near Chinsu Village in Yekyi, Ayeyarwaddy Division.
In addition, there have also been battles in the area around Kamyinkan, Peinyaysan and Kyatyaysan Villages in Ann Township of Rakhine State near the Ann-Padan Road for around a week against the junta troops from battalions under infantry division 88 and 99 as well as the defense industry in Magway since January 11, 2025. It is said that countless dead bodies of junta troops as well as weapons and ammunition were confiscated during said battle alongside several prisoners of war.
Meanwhile in Rakhine State, the junta council is said to be conducting continuous artillery, drone and sniper attacks around Sittwe, out of the three major cities that are yet to be captured by the Arakan Army namely Kyaukphyu, Mahnaung and Sittwe, while the junta air force and navy are also carrying out attacks almost everyday. Notably, there have been an increase in aerial attacks including drone strikes.
At 1:12 p.m. on January 20, the junta council troops from Gangawkyun Village in Sittwe Township used drones to bomb Wahbo Village on its opposite side, destroying several houses in the village.
