SAGAING DIVISION – The terrorist junta army stationed at Min Kone in Shwebo Township, along with the pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee militants of Pa Yan and Myin Chin villages, raided Kin Byar Village under cover of artillery firing, and burned down the civilians’ houses and the school building, according to locals.
On January 19, at around 3:00 a.m., the junta forces along with Pyu Saw Htee militants invaded Byar Village under cover of artillery firing, burned down five residential houses and a primary school, and then returned to Min Kone base, according to locals.
“At 3:00 a.m., the junta’s Infantry Battalion – 42 fired howitzers, the ground forces fired artillery shells and invaded the village. The school was completely destroyed and burned down due to junta’s artillery shells. The houses were burned down by the terrorist junta army and the Pyu Saw Htee thugs,” said a local resident.
Thousands of people from Kin Byar, Oh Bo and Chi Par villages had been forced to flee to nearby villages due to the invasion of junta army and Pyu Saw Htee militants under cover of artillery firing in Kin Byar Village. At present, some villagers have returned home, but most were fleeing.
It was the third time that Kin Byar Village has been burned down by the terrorist army, and the village was burned down twice in 2023, with about 90 houses burned down, according to local residents.
