MYANMAR: Captain Zinyaw, who joined the civil disobedience movement said that the head of the headquarter of the Central Veterans Department Kyaw Myo Min had signed and published the secret announcement on January 14. On the announcement it was mentioned that the old servicemen had been suggested to delete the information about their services if they had to travel around and if they can afford, they had been suggested to use two mobile phones.
The announcement was published that colonel Thein Zaw (retired), a chairman of the Kachin State Veterans Association and (4) members of his family had been captured after the information about military service had been inspected while being checked their phones, and computers by KIA and its alliances PDF at the checkpoint of Maungkone, Tigyaing on December 9. They had been inspected while they were attempting to flee to Mandalay as there had been intense battles in Bamaw, Kachin state, said by CDM Captain Zinyaw.
“It was instructed to delete the data about army and their services which were kept in mobile phones. In fact the old servicemen had been regarded as the reserved persons of the army. The army failed to protect such reserved persons. Instead they were instructed to take care of themselves and their safety, which can be seen easily, said by CDM Captain Zinyaw.
The caught colonel Thein Zaw (retired), a chairman of the Kachin State Veterans Association and (4) members of his family were released on December 30 by the revolutionary forces.
