SAGAING DIVISION – According to an accountable person of Monywa district battalion 19, the revolutionary alliance forces intercepted a junta council convoy which came for Ayadaw to reinforce its troops. During the attack, nine junta council troops were said to have been killed and the revolutionary forces managed to capture seven troops alive.
Starting from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on January 9, the revolutionary forces intercepted a junta council convoy consisting of 10 vehicles which left from Monywa based North-western Regional Command Headquarters to reinforce to Ayadaw town, at a place on Monywa-Ayardaw road section. Due to the attack, nine junta council troops were reportedly killed and seven troops were captured alive.
Moreover, the revolutionary alliance forces managed to confiscate five vehicles which carried the junta council servants, 15 122-MM Howitzers grenades, 20 RPG grenades, 4000 5.56mm bullets, 20 drone bombs, 27 60-MM grenades, 30 various kinds of mines, 45 landmines, 3 big Jammer machines, two small Jammer machines, 2 G3 rifles, 1 MA4 machine gun, 1 Uzi submachine gun, 3 40-MM grenades, 5 backpacks, 2 uniforms and the other military equipment.
During the battle, the junta council reinforced its troops by firing five rounds of Howitzer heavy weapon from Kyauksitpon artillery battalion and also reinforced using ground forces. During that battle, one revolutionary comrade sacrificed his life for the country.
The accountable person of Monywa district battalion 19 – Raungni battalion mentioned that “that junta council column is the one which went to Ayadaw township to reinforce its troops. The battle occurred at a place on the Ayadaw-Monywa road section. The battle is still breaking out at the moment.”
That attack was jointly carried out by Monywa district tactical command 66 (the combination of the Monywa district battalion 19, 26, 21), Monywa district battalion 20, 22, 18, 27 and 24, Ayadaw township People’s Defence Organisation, Ayadaw township People’s Defence Organisation no. 10 and 11, Ayadaw township People’s Security Force, Burmese Liberation Democratic Front (BLDF), Golden Eagle Force, Venomous Revolution Force, Special Revolution Force and the other revolutionary alliance forces.
