UNITED NATIONS – International governments urged to implement UN Security Council Resolution No. 2669 (2022) which is calling for an immediate end to all forms of violence within Myanmar and to stop the conflict, to ease tensions, and to release all those unjustly detained.
A joint statement was issued by the High-Level Representative on behalf of the European Union, United States of America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, Switzerland, Timor Leste, and the United Kingdom governments on January 6th to find a solution to the human rights violations and humanitarian crisis in Myanmar.
They have also called for the unhindered provision of humanitarian aid so that all communities, including women, children, and ethnic minorities, can receive the life-saving aid they need. In addition, reports also described burning civilian property, and vandalism has also been found.
They also said that they have received solid information about discrimination between the religious and minority groups in Myanmar, forced kidnapping of children and recruitment as soldiers, and violations of human rights and humanitarian laws, such as civilian casualties due to airstrikes.
