SAGAING DIVISION – It was reported that the Minister of the Ministry of Defense of National Unity Government (NUG), U Yee Mon is now visiting Sagaing Region and is attending and supporting the 2025 New Year Games, according to a statement from No. (1) Military Region.
On January 1, NUG MOD Minister U Yee Mon attended and supported the 2025 New Year Games held by the People’s Defense Force of Military Region No. 1 in an area controlled by the revolutionary forces in Sagaing Region. The games included football, wrestling, and tug-of-war and were attended by local residents along with officials from the People’s Defense Force.
“Kachin State and Sagaing Region are under the control of the revolutionary forces, except for air attacks. The area under control is very large now,” said a NUG Defense Ministry official who relocated from Laiza, Kachin State, to Sagaing Region.
Defense Minister U Yee Mon often visits the People’s Defense Forces in Sagaing and Mandalay Regions and even visited some of the front lines of the Mandalay PDF, which has been fighting with the military council for the past year, according to NUG Defense Ministry sources.
