MYANMAR -Two victims of forced military service from Kawmhu Township, Yangon, and Shwebo Township, Sagaing have defected, said Ms. Lawun, News and Information officer of Taungthu Ugyi Myer PDF Force.
On December 24th, at around 9:45 am, 2 victims of forced military service have defected. They didn’t bringing any weapons and ammunition with them.
The two defectors were said to have graduated from Military Training School- 8 in Shwebo Township.
“Currently, the two defectors have been thoroughly interrogated and their security, residence, and food are supported under the guidance of relevant officials,” said the spokesperson of Taungthu Ugyi Myer PDF Force.
Similarly in Magway Division, Private Than Pe, a police officer of Myoma police station in Htilin Township, was awarded five million Kyats for bringing a gun while defecting with his family, stated the officer of Htinlin People’s Defense Force.
On December 22, policeman Than Pe from the Htilin police station defected to Strategy No. 81 (Yaw Strategy) and No. (1) Military District, Ganggaw District No. (2 / 4 / 10) PDF Battalion, together with his family, bringing along a G-3 gun, 2 boxes of G-3 ammunition, and 194 rounds of 7.62 ammunition. It is learned that he was awarded a reward of 5 million kyats and was sent to the liberated area.
An official of the People’s Defense Battalions of Htilin Township said that the military council soldiers who want to join the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) from the terrorist army would be welcomed if they did on time.
