During the junta’s first aerial attack, Maung Zin Ko Chit (Grade 6), Ma May Myat Noe (Grade 7), and Ma Shwe Zin Win (Grade 12), three students who have been studying in people-based public schools from Kyauk Hlaykar Village and 5 innocent civilians were reportedly killed on the spot. Ten innocent people, including six students, were also reportedly injured during the junta’s aerial attack.
NUG criticizes that the Junta council’s targeted attacks on houses and schools were violations of the Geneva Convention, United Nations Security Council resolutions, and international humanitarian and human rights laws.
The National Unity Government and the Ministry of Education are deeply saddened by the death of children and innocent people and strongly condemn the terrorist acts of the Junta regime. NUG announced that the incidents (crimes) where children were killed in attacks on non-military targets will be recorded in detail, and make sure justice will be provided for the victims in any means possible in their power.
