BAGO DIVISION – The junta council targeting civilian buildings with airstrikes during the battle in Mone Town forced over 60,000 civilians from 85 villages to flee, announced the Karen National Union (KNU) central.
During the battles in Mone Town, Nyaunglebin District, the junta air force bombed the civilian areas and destroyed one church and around four houses in Yele Village.
Moreover, the junta airstrikes targeting the civilians had forced the residents of Mone Town and nearby villages to flee and according to collected data, an estimated 68,403 people from 85 villages have been displaced.
As the situation is still unstable in the town, there are said to be delays in assessing the damages to civilian properties, civilian casualties and details of the displaced people.
Although KNU is currently taking care of the people who had to flee their homes, the rising number of displaced people is said to be posing a challenge, and emergency humanitarian aid for the war refugees such as food rations, shelters, blankets and medicine are urgently needed.
